Wiki Tahi (Week 1) - Done and Dusted!

Kia ora whānau,

What a massive first week back in Tūhono.  We were very lucky to have two new students join our hub, Abigail (from South Africa) and Caity (from Woodleigh School), along with Manas who started with us at the end of last term, who arrived from Rotorua.  As always Tūhono showed manaakitanga and welcomed them into our whānau with open arms.  It is hard joining a new classroom at this time of the year and Abigail, Caity and Manas have got involved in everything and are happy to come back each day!!

OTHER NEW FACES
We love our Tūhono tamariki sharing their lives outside of school with us and we appreciate all the photos and videos sent by parents to help with this.  We even get to meet new family members.  Last week we had "Dinky" and "Milly" in to visit us.  They have been re-homed with the Martin whānau and were very delightful and cute.  Thanks Kaitlyn, William, Victoria and Charlotte.

SUN HATS
The warm weather has certainly arrived, so that is why we have Term 4 as a term where hats are compulsory.  Tino pai to all of the Tūhono students who wear their hats everyday.  As we want to be as sunsmart as possible, we are strongly encouraging that students wear bucket hats to school instead of caps.  We have discussed this in class with our tamariki and they agree that caps protect your face but not your ears or your neck.  If your child does not have one, they are really cheap to buy at places like The Warehouse or Postie Plus.

CARNIVAL CRAFTS
Tūhono have started brainstorming ideas for what they may create to sell at our upcoming carnival.  In running with our theme of looking after our environment, we have decided that we are going to upcycle used materials.  We have acquired a big box of old records, cds and 1.5L soft drink bottles, so the students are researching unique ways of creating something new out of something old.  This project should not cost anything.  Watch this space...

CARNIVAL HELPERS
We still have gaps that need to be filled to help with our stalls and activities.  Thank you to the Meyers and Lilos who replied to our previous plea.  Please (if you are not already) could you volunteer one hour of your time for this school community event that brings in a lot of money for your tamariki's education?

Walking Wednesdays

What a tasty Wednesday experience for all those students who parked and walked/biked/scootered to Frankley School this week. So great to see the enthusiasm and support. Of course lots of us already choose to do this every day but this helps to spread the enthusiasm across all of the age groups.
Keep up the good work as we continue to encourage our Walking Wednesdays for all of Term 4. A big thanks to Tara, Dylan, Ava, Georgia, Koby and Sylvia for your efforts -  (and Penelope the Pukeko for your great hugs and dancing skills!!!)

Term Wha is Here...

Kia ora Whānau

One more sleep to go and we will be back into the swing of the term at Frankley. Hopefully everyone has had a great break and recharged those  batteries. Some families will have been busy with friends and relatives and others with sports and still more doing all of those gardening and spring cleaning jobs that always need doing.

We have a busy term coming up with the Carnival happening in November. If you have sold your raffle tickets get those dollars back to the office. If you haven't it would be great if you could. Mrs Cribb sold a few outside 'Locals' cafe today in the glorious sun so people are interested in buying and supporting our school.

Remember to also pack hats and water bottles (we mean get your child to!!!) as we are sure the sun will be out to welcome us up the path.
