Kia ora whānau
Not sure we can say we have had Week 4 as some of it was missing!!! We hope everyone stayed healthy and happy during the extra days at home. Mrs T and I went to school today to shift potatoes and kumara and pumpkins into cooler and darker spaces as we wait for the new date for the hangi. I did suggest that Rangi Trinder dig a kumara pit. He didn't think that was a good idea although it would be an authentic way of sharing how the Māori did things traditionally!!!!
This coming week we will keep going with our swimming programme so togs every day. Mrs T is away in Christchurch for Monday and Tuesday so we have Mrs James with us. She knows most of the students and is very used to our systems having already been teaching in Te Kakano in 2017.
We have lots of camp photos and videos that the students now have access too so we will utilising this resource to support our writing programme. Please talk to your child about what they are writing and have input on their writing via Google Drive. You can make suggestions through the comments section. If you are not sure what to do, ask your child or pop in and see us.
Walkathon - Thursday March 1st - start time 5.00pm. Always a great event so get on the phone, emailing, texting, door knocking for sponsorship. Challenge your child to beat the number of laps they achieved last time.
We appreciate all of those students who are managing to get to school before 9.00am. Any latecomers have not had the opportunity to socialise with their group and get settled and ready for the day. It is also a difficult time to talk to parents at that 9.00 o'clock stage so if you would like to see us, please drop us an email and we will endeavour to make a time that suits all parties. If you need to send a message about your child can you please use the school phone line rather than our personal cell phones. Those numbers were shared in case of an emergency during camp and we don't always access our phones during work hours so we would hate to miss an important message. Robyn always gets information through to us during the day.
I found this resource in the last few days - some good phrases that you might find helpful as you share about the day with your child.
Have a lovely weekend and a great week 5.
