Personally Speaking WILDLY IMPORTANT TASK

In Tūhono, we have been busy, busy getting into our first W.I.T. for the year.  Most of us are now up to the stage of answering our key questions and doing some exploring of different portrait ideas, styles, artists etc.  Have a chat to your child/ren about what they have been discovering and designing lately...

Part of the task is to include our aspirations, so we thought we better start by recording them down.

What a Day for a Farewell!!

On Friday 9th March, we farewelled (take 2) our Principal, Mr Damon Ritai.  What a massive community event and memories that lots of us will treasure forever!  Click on this link to check out the photos and videos from peeling kumara right through to gift presentations the next afternoon.  Thank you so much to our Tūhono whānau for helping out where and when you could, especially to Steve Francis who helped out on Thursday and all day Friday, we couldn't have done it without all of you.  My highlight of the day was presenting Damon with a wakahuia that my father-in-law, Kenny Trinder, had carved specifically for him.  What were your highlights of the day?

We haven't done any maths yet - Tūhono you actually have done lots!!

In Tūhono, we have been looking at Developing Mathematical Inquiry Communities (DCIM).  "Doing maths" is starting to look a bit different in our hubs these days as a more collaborative approach is encouraged.  We decided to start with the context of getting to know each other better in Tūhono.  The students have been working really hard (sometimes brains exploding!) together to come up with their own ways of carrying out a statistical investigation.  Have a look at what we have done so far and check out the photos of us in action.
